Pix Brook Academy

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Pix Brook Academy, we want to foster an inclusive culture built on high expectations and mutual respect, ensuring equality of education and opportunity for every pupil, staff member, parent, and carer. We champion diversity and strive to create an environment where all members of our community feel proud of their identity and confident to participate fully in Academy life, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion, or socio-economic background.

Our Collective Identity:

The ethos and expectations of our school are embodied by our five foundational values, which combine to form a strong collective identity and a shared responsibility for success and conduct:

  1. Polite: We communicate respectfully, treat others with courtesy, and show excellent manners at all times.
  2. Positive: We approach challenges with optimism, maintain a constructive attitude, and lift-up those around us.

  3. Prepare: We take responsibility for our learning by being organised, planning ahead, and ensuring we are ready for every lesson and opportunity.

  4. Proud: We take pride in our efforts, our achievements, our appearance, and our school community.

  5. Perseverant: We show unwavering determination, overcome obstacles, and keep striving even when the learning journey is challenging.

Commitment to Inclusion and Excellence

We believe in high expectations that lead to excellence. Our inclusive curriculum gives every individual the scope to explore their talents and enthusiasms while providing an academic grounding for future success. We actively monitor the achievement of all pupils by key characteristics and use this data forensically to support students, raise standards, and ensure our teaching is truly inclusive. We tackle discrimination by promoting equality, challenging stereotypes, and cultivating a community that respects and celebrates diversity as a fundamental strength of Pix Brook Academy.

Information on students by protected characteristics

The Equality Act 2010 protects people from discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics. Every person has several of the protected characteristics, so the Act protects everyone against unfair treatment.

In order to ensure that all students are protected from discrimination, the school collects information on protected characteristics.
