Careers & Work Experience
We believe that a successful education is one that opens doors to a fulfilling future. Our goal is to ensure every student leaves us not just with excellent qualifications, but with a clear plan and the confidence to navigate the ever-changing world of work.
A planned and comprehensive programme of lesson activities prepares our pupils for the opportunities in choosing pathways at key transition points (e.g. GCSE options and Post 16 educational choices) that suit their interests and abilities and helps them to work towards a career path and sustainable employment. This prepares students for life in the wider world. (Further details are given by year group below).
The work-related learning goals reflect the Gatsby Benchmarks, and focus on the development of core employability skills. These are met through subject teaching, dedicated lessons and experiences in the Citizenship programme, activities during National Careers week, National Apprenticeship week, tutor time, assemblies and drop-down careers days/events, as well as parental information shared via PBA Newsletters.

Unifrog - What is it?
Unifrog is an award-winning online platform that acts as a complete 'one-stop-shop' for students to explore their future pathways. It connects directly to careers by bringing every available opportunity—from university courses and apprenticeships to college courses—into one impartial, user-friendly dashboard.
Beyond simple research, the platform actively helps students prepare for the world of work by allowing them to record their skills, draft CVs and Personal Statements, and track their work experience. It is designed to empower students to make informed decisions and build a professional portfolio that demonstrates they are ready for their next steps.
To support you and your child navigating the platform successfully, please read through the presentations below.
Year 9 Take Your Child To Work Day & Year 10 Work Experience - What do I need to know?
Work Experience is a vital part of our Year 9 & 10 curriculum, designed to give students their first real insights into the world of work. More than just a day or week out of the classroom, this opportunity allows students to develop essential employability skills—such as independence, time management, and professional communication—while exploring potential career paths.
We encourage students to take ownership of this process by securing their own placements, as the act of finding and applying for a position is a valuable learning experience in itself. While students lead the search, the school supports them every step of the way with advice and guidance.
