Pupil Premium & Free School Meals
We receive a grant from the government every year which we use in order to meet these key objectives:
- Raise progress and attainment: to narrow the gap between the achievement of these students and their peers (measured in gap between PP and non-PP, particularly in English and Maths)
- Increase social mobility: to add cultural capital and address any underlying inequalities between children eligible for pupil premium and others, in order to improve engagement with education.
We strive to ensure all pupils eligible for funding can reach their full potential.
How the money is used:
-
Examples include:
-
Extra academic support (tuition, interventions)
-
Additional teaching staff or small group work
-
Support with school trips, uniform, clubs or extracurricular activities
-
Well-being and pastoral support programs
-
Please note that Pupil Premium is not necessarily spent only on individual pupil. Pix Brook Academy use it flexibly to benefit groups or whole cohorts where it helps disadvantaged outcomes.
Our PP Coordinator is Mrs Jackson. If you have specific questions relating to the PP plan, funding and support, please contact her.
Please note Mrs Jackson is currently on maternity leave. Mr Szwaijbak will be able to support you.
Free School Meals (FSM)
Eligibility and how it works
-
Children may receive free school meals if their families receive certain means-tested benefits (e.g., Income Support, Universal Credit at a low income level, tax credits below thresholds, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, etc.).
-
We urge our families to register their child formally for free meals even if they don’t want the meals every day as the registration supports schools to receive funding.
You can apply and register your child on the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals
Mrs Jackson or Mr Szwajbak can support with an application should you wish. All applications will be treated confidentially and discreetly.
Our documentation is reviewed every Autumn Term and is detailed below.
