Information regarding breakfast, breaktime & lunchtime

Our school lunch service is provided by our internal catering team. We run a two-week timetable and share this on our website and social media.

Please note we are a nut free school. Please be mindful of cereal bars / protein-bar related products.

Facilities
We have 2 canteen locations at the Academy serving students at various points in the school day:

1. Main Canteen: this is open to students in all year groups before school for breakfast (from 7:30am), at breaktime for snacks, and at lunchtime for main meals. We operate a timetable on rotation in KS3 and KS4 to ensure that all years groups have the opportunity to be served first over the course of a month.

2. Food Hub: this is open to students in Years 9-11 at breaktime for snacks and at lunchtime for Grab and Go options, and pasta with sauce.

Pupils are limited to two sweet treats at breaktime as part of our healthy living approach.

Costs and Payment

The current price for a ‘meal deal’ including a ‘main meal’ and the ‘dessert of the day’ is £3.00.

Individual prices for items are displayed alongside them in each canteen if students are unsure.

Pupils will choose their food daily and pay for it using our biometric cashless system. Parents will need to prepay and top-up their child’s account via the ‘Accounts’ section on your ParentMail account and any money spent on food and drinks will be deducted on a daily basis.

If pupils have an overdrawn account, they will not be permitted to purchase items at breaktime, or drinks at lunchtime. We will always ensure students have a hot meal if a packed lunch from home hasn't been provided. Our catering manager will chase any debts.

Our menus and prices can be found below.  In addition to our main menu, we offer jacket potatoes and pasta daily with a choice of fillings / sauces.

Students in receipt of free school meals will receive an automatic top up each day up to the value of the meal deal to use as they wish. Any unspent balance will be removed at the end of each day. Parents/Carers are able to top up your child's account to cover any overspend and this balance will not be removed unless spent.

Allergens

All of our canteen facilities are fully compliant with the latest allergen guidance, including Natasha’s law. Information regarding allergens is detailed on menus/displays. If an allergen has been declared to the Academy, we will make every effort to inform the canteen as soon as possible so they can place a note on your child's account. If your child is unsure or needs further clarification, they should speak to a member of the canteen staff who will be happy to assist.

Healthy Living

Every day we sell freshly made fruit pots, a range of yoghurts and individual pieces of fruit. These are located in the chiller by the sandwiches, or in our fruit bowls next to drinks and pastries.
